Great loss for the entire country: Defence experts on demise of Marshal of IAF Arjan Singh

Expressing grief over the demise of Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh, the Defence experts said, not only for the Indian Air Force, but it's a great loss for the entire country.

Defence expert Sunil Deshpande said, "We are deeply grieved to hear the sad news of the demise of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh. It's a great loss for the entire country, not only for the Air Force."

Deshpande further averred that Arjan Singh is an example to be followed by many.

"He took active part in 1965 war, he was a war hero.In fact he is an example to be followed by many," he mentioned, adding, "He was an Idol for the Indian Air force. He is not with us, we pay our homage to him," he added.

Resonating similar sentiments, defence expert Shivali Despande describe Arjan Singh as the "epitome of leadership."

"Today when we look up to our senior officers, we really look up to this man- an officer who has been an absolute idol for every officer to follow," she said.

India's pride Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh has passed away on Saturday.

He was admitted to Army's Research and Referral hospital this morning after he suffered a cardiac arrest, the Defence Ministry said.

Arjan Singh was a respectable figure of the Indian military history.

Marshal of IAF, Arjan Singh had led a young air force into the 1965 Indo-Pak war when he was about 44-year-old.

He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his leadership during the war. He flew over 60 aircrafts and remained a flyer until the end of his career with the IAF.

Five-star Marshal Arjan Singh retired in August 1969. In 2016, the crucial air base at Panagarh Air Force Station was renamed after him. Panagarh is also the headquarters of the newly raised 17 Crops - Mountain Strike Corps. (ANI)
